hip hop matters 1-50

summary: in the beginning of the book it talks about how some of the major hip hop or rap artists got started. they mentioned Afrika Bambaataa a major hip hop artists that has made a major impact in the world. they also mention some famous DJs one of the them was Jamaican born DJ kool herc that has revolutionized the buisness into a whole new differnt industry. it also says how the lives of DJ were. Now that wa jst the introduction. Part one of the book says "Pop culture and the struggle for hip hop" it is basially about the fact that Pop culture has spread just as fast and is doing a well job. Pop artists such as Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera are muc more mature than the hip hop artists. When industry c ouldnt find a way to know how uch they are selling in terms of albums they decided to go with SoundScan. SoundScan was a way to get to know how much they sold in that period of time. Most of the compaies dint believe that it wa such a good idea. But one company that we know till today is Billboard hat still uses the system now. and it also says the different types of recording buisnesses such as Indie witch refers to as the lower accomplished recording musics.

QUOTE-"The initial freedom that Iovine and Field enjoyed at Interscope in the early nineties allowed them to play the music business game by a less coventional set of rules." (44-45)

Reaction- I personally am not really interested in the music as much as the teens from this generation but it was good to know how they got started and what type of people made the buisness the way it is today. Hip hop is the mecca of the other different types of music but it has caused alot of different conflicts wheather it it is the videos or the lyrics.

Quote: “the game of football evoled and here was ine cause of its evolution, a new kind of athlete doing a new kind of thing”.

Reaction: I thought that the book so far is a bit boring im not a big foot ball fan and theres lttle about him in the game of football. Some parts were reassuring I know understand who were his inspiration . Some of the things they said were for people that knew football . And I just dont pay attention to things that they have to say. But I will keep reading to see if theres anything interesting after this.
